Well to start off my blog post, I must say I had problems uploading to Vimeo for whatever reason. It said my video wasn’t large enough to upload. So instead I will send you an email Kyle of my video footage on Premier. I hope that will still count and that you understand the difficulties I had uploading. I will provide my storyboard at the bottom of this post.

Now lets talk about my draft! I basically just gave everyone a virtual tour of my apartment. I figured that would be a quick 1-2 min video story and I didn’t have to move very far to get it done. I montage d together 4 different clips (each a different room) and included transitions at the end of each to make it seem not so choppy and have a more natural flow to it. I used, my living room, kitchen, bathroom, and my bedroom and talked briefly about their importance to the apartment and how much I utilize them. In each different shot, I made sure to observe and show every important thing in each room. I used my phone to record and use these videos for Adobe Premier. I cut out a lot of extra footage that dragged on so I could fill the appropriate amount of 1-2 minutes. I think my apartment was a great topic for the overall theme of “me” because it shows how I like to live and the routines I have in my home. I think in every unit so far I have showed a different part or piece of who I am and how I like to do things. I look forward to everyone’s feedback as I know I can make a more improved final draft that can maybe more artistically enhance my video story. Thanks for reading everyone!

Storyboard: Virtual Tour of my Apartment

Visual Elements Audio Elements
0:00-0:29  camera shot of my living room, you see my window, lamp, 12th man flag, etc. transition at the end Me describing my living room and how it is unique. I also note that this is my “escape” from the stress of college academics.
0:30-0:56  visual shot of the kitchen and its surroundings. A shot outside from sliding glass door, dishwasher, sink, fridge, table, trash can. Transition at the end. Me describing everything in the kitchen. I talk about how you must learn how to cook and have a budget for groceries.
0:57-1:21  shot of my bathroom along with the 2 sinks and mirror. Also a toilet and shower. Transition at the end. This one probably has the least amount of audio as it is a bathroom. Not much to explain that everybody doesn’t already know. Basically just described everything that was in the bathroom.
1:22-1:50 shot of my room, outside window, closet, dresser, TV, and laundry necessities. Described my room and why I set it up this way, talked about what I do in their, talked about how I study in their a lot.

  1. I have a sort of hard time giving solid feedback from a description instead of an actual video because my advice would probably be about film quality or audio but, the ideas you expressed are interesting. I have a question about whether you recorded your voice separately or as you were filming each room because that could change how the video comes together. I do not know if it is possible but if you can have a sort of zooming down a tunnel or hallway transition, that would be a very interesting transition between rooms. You don’t describe what your transitions were. I don’t think the shot of the bathroom adds anything to the video and I don’t think anyone cares to see it so I might eighty-six that. I did like the other rooms what you said you talked about. I wish you luck with future uploading. I had similar vimeo difficulties and went to youtube.

  2. Tyler Shuey,
Well since I did not actually see the video I can only base my feedback based off what you said was in it. You seemed really organized, especially with your table making it clear what audio and visuals were going on during the specific time period. It helps create a visual on what is going on. It is dead on with your topic and meets the time requirements. From the sound of it your videos were not shaky nor poorly filmed. You seemed to go in depth about the room’s surroundings in each of your clips. I will have to point out the main issue here is you never could upload the video! That is going to be a huge problem with your final video! As of right now that seems to be the only issue with your video and if your description is as good as the video than you should be fine. I’d suggest just going in and seeing Kyle and maybe have him throw some pointers on your video. Besides that seems like your final will be great and goodluck.
    Thanks, Trevor Cartwright

  3. To critique my own draft, I must say after reviewing everyone’s in my group, I have a lot of work to do. I wish people got to see my video because I thought it was kind of a cool concept of doing a virtual tour of my apartment so my biggest adjustment for next week will to be to actually get my video uploaded so you all can see it. Secondly, I noticed I need to add more text for each of my shots and maybe also add some narration that is not simply me talking in the background of the same video. This will make my words much cleaner and concise and seem more professional. I am also debating putting in still pictures that I can zoom in and out of to give it a more montaged feel. I appreciated looking at my groups draft story’s as I learned more about them and it offered me some ideas as well. I look forward to putting together a solid final draft this week that you all can see. Thanks for commenting!
