Final Draft Audition

Overall feeling about my final draft: Approaching this final draft and recieving comments from my group members and especially Kyle made me sort of regroup my strategy. Kyle stated that I spent too much time talking about the music I used and how I wasn’t copyrighting it instead of actually telling a cohesive audio story. Giving that, I swept the slate clean and made new audio footage frankly with new classical music as well (don’t worry, it had a CC license). I had to envision story elements of beginning, middle, and end to make it cohesive. I decided to use a narration and conclusion for an interview I did in the middle. Now it was a story that clearly had 3 distinguishable components that you can clearly recognize. I started out with an introduction of me and what this audio footage was going to entail (sort of a preview). Secondly, then comes a quick transition to the interview where I ask myself questions about why I love classical music and when I like to listen to it. I tried to contrast my voices from the interviewer to the interviewee. I used the razor tool to cut out some long silences or too quick of transitions from section to section. Also in all my clips, after I was done talking, I would let the music play out for a couple seconds to really strike a mood of the interview. I think my duration lasted right in between 1 and 2 minutes so like a minute and a half. Keeping the classical music at a low level throughout me talking was just perfect because it matched my tone of talking but didn’t overwhelm you from hearing what I said, rather the music made what I was saying more engaging. Although when I wasn’t talking I really tried to emphasize the music and at the very end of the story I slowly drop the volume down so it is not such an abrupt ending.

Overall I really though I put the work in this week to make this a well done product. I really had to scrap my rough draft and be honest with myself about how I should approach this. I appreciated all your guys’ feedback and I hope the result matches the effort I put in.

Audition Draft

Working with Audition is very neat because it allows you to use real footage based off raw emotion. Unlike the other Adobe software’s like Illustrator and Photoshop (although they do have their own strengths) Audition allows you to use strictly sound which is abstract to convey meaning and art. There are no sights to judge how artistic someone is or how good someone is at using the tools. In my brief under 1 minute “story”, I unveiled my love for classical music. As I played the bird chirping, morning awakening music on one track, I made another track with my voice narrating why I love classical music. I turned the volume down a bit on the music to enhance what I was saying in the narration. Also I think classical music is played best at a moderate volume. Part of my explanation for why I love classical music was it reduces stress and helps me get things done. I always listen to classical music whether it’d be Bach, Mozart or Beethoven when I study or do homework. It puts me in a special state of mind that really filters out the noise and allows me to solely focus on the task at hand. Classical music never allows you to get too high or low. It has great variation and really tells a story with its tone changes. Also I like that it doesn’t have lyrics because sometimes they can distract when trying to study. Just simple rhythm and melody is all that’s needed to clear the mind and accomplish something. You also don’t have to change the song too often either because often songs can be hours long so I let it play through. It is interesting to hear what can be inferred when listening to an hour long song, almost like a musical or movie. I look forward to my group’s criticism in order to make a more polished project next week. Thanks!

Final Draft Logo

Upon receiving mostly positive feedback fro my draft logo, I knew I didn’t have to make too many changes. But at the same time a couple minor enhancements were needed in order for the logo and motto to work even better together. It seemed as if many of my peers in my group liked the foundation of my logo and also liked my motto “keep on keeping on” because it went with the logo very well. So I thought to myself, how can I connect these stars so it even represents my motto even more. In my draft the star people were grouped and connected more in a circle. I changed that this time and made it seem like they were holding hands and I also made a kind of arch shaping of all the stars together. I thought this really made it look more professional and cohesive. I also changed the font to a more fun and playful looking font to set the tone of positivism and good self esteem. I also changed the location of my motto because my new layout of the stars enabled me to put the motto more front and center so people can really recognize it when they see the logo. I kept the burnt out faded look of the stars because I liked how it makes them look more warm and cute as it contrasts with the mustard yellow background with a 2 pt. red stroke. I also redid the drawings of the faces and tried to straighten them out a little better to add to the professionalism. All in all I think my logo meets most requirements and I think I have a solid foundation for an evolving logo. Not only does it look good, but it also makes sense as it connects with the motto of the logo as well. I hope you guys liked my finishing touches and I can’t wait to learn more about different Adobe programs!

Illustrator: Draft logo and summary

illustrator-draft-logo

This draft logo was much more free and easy to me then Photoshop. In regard to logos, I feel as if you don’t have to try too hard to make it complicated because logos are made to be simple, yet logical to your subject. In my instance, my topic is myself and I always have thought self esteem is important to one’s self. I decided with this logo to create a group of star shapes to be the basis of my logo, but I also gave them faces and increased the size each time as if it is a child growing up and finding his happiness. My logo’s motto is “keep on keeping on” because that is ultimately what you have to do in life no matter the circumstances. There is always tomorrow! In regard to the design process, I kept it fairly simple as I am not an exert with all the tools in Illustrator. I made a yellow background with a red 3 pt. stroke to present a kind of warm feeling to the logo. I made the stars basically the same color but it appears a little more burnt because I adjusted the gradient to make the stars to appear faded out because they are people and people have stress. I also obviously used the brush tool and text tool to display the meaning of the logo.I also would group the objects together so when I was making adjustments it would make them to all of them because I wanted all of them to look similar. I did not use any sites for research as I thought I had a pretty good grasp on what I wanted to display with the meaning of my logo. In essence, I know it probably won’t be the best logo, but it has substance and meaning and that goes along way. I’m looking forward to your guy’s feedback and I hope to present a better logo next week for my final draft! Thank you!
